Sammy's Cat Helpful Hints
Entering in a cat show is a lot of fun. Here are some helpful hints if you are going to enter your cat in a show. If you're a regular household cat from a shelter, you can enter in the Household Pet Division.
1. Decide which cat show you are going to enter in at CFA website.
2. Check CFA Website for the rules & guidelines for entering your cat.
3. Enter before the deadlines. Email the Entry Clerk with questions. On your
entry form let them know you this is your first time.
4. If you are going to travel far make sure you book a pet friendly hotel.

Motel 6 (pet friendly)
Prior to the day of the show
*Your cat must be clean, this means a bath. If you cat hates water try the waterless shampoos.
*All nails must be clipped short.
*Brush/clean cat's teeth
*Make sure you received a confirmation of registration (either by email or mail) this includes instructions for
the day of the show.
*Travel carrier
Packing List (these are the items I pack for every show)
*Cage cover: Also known as "Show Curtains" this material will give your cat privacy while in their benching
cage. This is a great opportunity to use your creativity and bring out the personality of your cat. You can
hand-make with material, use bedsheets, towels, there are endless options. Measurements of the bench
cage (approximately): California (West Coast) 27" x 24" x 36" or 22" x 22" x 45". You can choose to have a
double cage if you want to fit two cats in one larger cage. Create your show curtains accordingly. Spaz Cat

*Grooming Supplies (I am a medium hair so I require more grooming than the average short hair cat)
Cat Zoom Groom Brush (removes extra hair)
Hard Slicker Brush (for long hair cats)
Soft Slicker Brush (for short hair cats)
Nail Scissors
Nail File
Kitty Grooming Wet Wipes
Q-Tips (to clean eyes & ears) or eye & ear pet wipes
Kitty Mints/Tooth brush & Tooth paste
*Kitty Basics:
Small/Medium size cat litter box
Cat litter (some shows provide litter)
Food & water bowl
Food & water
Blankets (for your cat that will fit in the bench cage)
Cat beds
Catnip
Cat toys
*Fun stuff: Create a little bio about your cat & picture that you can post on your benching cage to help others learn more about your cat.
*When your at the show
Locate your cat's number (this is how they will identify your cat during the entire show)
